Criteria for Selection to Great West Tournament in April of each Year

A maximum of 20 quizzers are chosen for a maximum of 5 teams with no substitutes. Each quizzer will be considered according to these 5 steps:

1. Quizzers District average from combined first and second district meets
   
   • quizzer can only obtain a district average by registering in A division and having a base of 5 quizzes from A division only. A provision is made for quizzers dropping into the A Consolation division before their 5th quiz by adding in their poorest preliminary or intermediate (W,X,Y,Z) quiz
   • Qualifying Top 10 quizzers are undisputed choices
   • Quiz teams placing a quizzer in the top 10 can earn a selection berth of another team member from their church who has placed 11-15th
2. Church distribution
   
   • CMQ committee desires to see as many churches represented by individual quizzers on these 5 teams
   • although multiple selections of over 3 quizzers from one church are uncommon they are acceptable
   • the greater benefit to the district's quizzing program from this meet is not to see high individual achievements but rather enhanced enthusiasm and encouragement returned to local church quizzing programs
3. Age of Quizzer
   
   • Often older quizzers have had an opportunity to contribute more to their local program and deserve recognition for being integral to that program
4. Previous Opportunities for Out of District Meets
   
   • this can help or hurt a quizzer depending on how committed they were to the next year of quizzing after seeing what it takes to be competitive outside our district program
   • unsuccessful applicants from previous years showing an improvement in their quizzing need to be considered
   • a senior quizzer who has never traveled to such a meet before would score extremely high
5. Attitude
   
   • each quizzer chosen must commit him/ her self to the responsibilities ( financial cost and study preparation) involved in going and the unity of the group
   • all quizzers chosen need to demonstrate a desire to represent this district with a Christ like attitude/li>
