CMQ News and UpdatesNews, information and notices concerning Canadian Midwest Quizzing.Saturday, April 21, 2007Regina Meet Registrations
The registrations for the final quiz meet of the year have started coming in. (Registration deadline is Tuesday, April 24.) It is great to see that some people have made their own arrangements for accomodations. This always helps the billeting team out. When a quizzer, coach, or official has arranged for their own accomodations, please indiciate the name and phone number of the host family on the registration form. This information is required in case of emergency. Coaches, please confirm that the parents of these quizzers have approved these arrangements and are willing for the Regina hosts to take full responsibility for their children's welfare. We would appreciate knowing how to reach all coaches as well in case of emergency. Thank you.
Tuesday, April 17, 2007May Quiz Meet Sunday Service & Trophies
As usual, we are planning a special Sunday morning worship service for the final quiz meet with lots of quizzer involvement. The special speaker will be Serge LeClerc from Teen Challenge.
We are looking for special music numbers for the service. Coaches, if anyone from your church group would be interested in providing a musical number for the Sunday service, please indicate this on your registration form or email quiz.registrationATcmdquizzing.org directly. This year on May 6 our Sunday morning's special offering will be for our Caribbean ministry project to build and equip a youth center for Leo and Rosa. Remember that for every dollar your quizzing group can give, it will be matched 1:1 by the mission grant committee of Regina 1st Baptist church. Their quizzing kids along with several others in our district have been selling Ecuadorian coffee and snack products from Pete Tonner to help raise money. CMQ's desire is for everyone to be involved even if your group has not had a fund raiser. All cheques made out to Canadian Midwest Quizzing received that Sunday morning service can be receipted for charitable gift purposes and counted towards your quizzing groups' total. Therefore cheques from friends and relatives as well as collected coins and cash could be put in a large envelope with your quizzing churches' name on it and then received as part of the final offering. Some of the gifts given Jan 27 at the CDA meet were also eligible for this project as CMQ desires to see all of our quizzing teams benefit from being a part of this long lasting venture. First, second, and third place teams from last year's finals need to return the A division, A consolation, B division and C division trophies to this year's finals in Regina. Please ensure that you have engraved the trophy nameplate with your churches' name and the year. The churches that need to return trophies are: A division

Quizzers need to bring sleeping bags, pillows, and towels as well any personal items required for the meets. Luggage needs to be identified with each quizzer's name and church group. For this meet, the registration cost for answer judges and scorekeepers is $20 to help cover the cost of the meals. The social will be held on campus with various outdoor activities. Please bring appropriate clothing. Due to the number of dorm rooms available, only the male quizzers will be billeted on campus. The female quizzers and coaches will be billeted off campus. We will require male adults to chaperon the dorms. If you have male adults available to be billeted on campus, please indicate this on your registration form. Awards will be presented for Club 145, Club 300, and Grade 12 quizzers. Coaches, please contact Tammy Fedorak with the awards information for your quizzers by TUESDAY, APRIL 17. We need to know the name and number of years in quizzing for each Grade 12 quizzer plus the number of Club 145 and Club 300 awards for your quizzing group. This information needs to be sent to Tammy by April 17 so that we can order the awards for the final quiz meet. Tammy's contact information is available on the CMQ directory. If you have questions or concerns with completing the registration form, please contact Angela Davis. My number is available in the directory.
