Exciting News

Our Island Ministry Team has arrived home with wonderful stories of God's working and protection on their lives and those they met. Be sure and attend the Russell meet to hear all about it. As well we will be updating our CMQ project progress as our quizzing groups prepare for their fund raising with Pete Tonner. Our team visited the youth center on the island and already have contributed some money towards it. Our goal of $6000 to be raised by May 6/07 has been matched 1:1 by an anonymous giver from First Baptist Church in Regina. Please get on board with this project if you haven't already as this opportunity is too good to miss out on. Some surprising amounts have already been raised by quiz teams from Yorkton and First Baptist.

Russell Registration Deadline

The correct deadline for registrations for the Russell quiz meet is Monday, Feb.26. Please remember to send in the registration form and the Russell social form(both available on the CMQ website). The original posted deadline of Monday, Feb.23 does not exist in 2007. Sorry for any confusion this has caused.

March Russell Meet Registration Information

The next quiz meet of 2007 will be held Mar. 9-11 in Russell, Manitoba. The meet will be held at Major Pratt School, Russell Community Hall, and the Russell Alliance Church. Registration will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the Major Pratt School. These venues are relatively close together and quizzers will be walking from one venue to the other. The meet will wrap up after brunch (12 p.m.) on Sunday from the Russell Community Hall. The cost will be $25 per person.

REGISTRATIONS ARE DUE MONDAY, FEBRUARY 23. We would appreciate as many early registrations as possible. We need this time to prepare billeting for all of the quizzers and coaches attending and to compile all of the rental information for the ski hill. Please download and fill out the registration form and the Russell Social form and then return them to the registration email address. Make sure to list the number of teams in each division and include any vehicles that can be used to transport quizzers to billets. We will also need the ski, snowboard, and tubing information for each of the quizzers coming.

Question material content for both meets will include up to the end of Acts chapter 15 with 20 question quizzes in the A, B, and C divisions. This will be the second district meet of the Acts quizzing year with 20% of the "A" quizzers personal averages going towards their overall year average. Quizzers need to bring winter gear, appropriate outside walking shoes, sleeping bags, and pillows as well any personal items required for the meets. Luggage needs to be identified with each quizzer's name and church group.

Erin Petty, officials' coordinator, would appreciate knowing about any adults coming to the meet that would be available to help with some of the officiating as scorekeepers or answer judges. It is sometimes difficult to get enough officials for meets that are not held in Saskatoon or Regina.

We are excited to announce that the social will be held at Asessippi Ski Hill. Quizzers will have the choice of skiing, snowboarding, tubing, or hanging out in the lodge. The rental equipment for all of the activities is included in the meet registration cost. This will include the rental of helmets as all quizzers skiing, boarding, or tubing will be required to wear helmets. Quizzers may bring their own equipment to the meet, but it will need to be stored in the team vehicles as the equipment will not be allowed in the church, school, hall, or at the billets. Teams will need to provide their own transportation to and from the hill. All first time skiers will be required to take a lesson. The cost to first time skiers will be an additional $10 each. Please note the quizzers requiring lessons on the registration form as we need to schedule the correct number of instructors. This extra $10 per first time skier can be paid at registration Friday night.

All quizzers under 18 will need to have a completed waiver form in order to ski, board, or tube. Coaches, please have the parents or guardians sign these forms and bring them with you to the quiz meet to be handed in Friday at registration.

If you have questions or concerns with completing the registration form or Russell Social form, please contact Angela Davis.

Send registrations and Russell Social forms to:
quiz.registrationATcmdquizzing.org
Replace the AT with @. (We have to list it this way on the website to prevent SPAM emails.)

(Quizzers need to select their activity by Feb.26 in order to ensure we have the right equipment available and to minimize the time required to receive the rental equipment on the hill. This will maximize our skiing time.)

The Russell Social form is in excel format. For those coaches who don’t have excel, here is a word document that you can use instead. Please use the excel spreadsheet if you have access to Microsoft Excel.

Here is a link to a map of Russell.
(The map that was handed out at the coaches’ meeting at the CDA meet is probably the best.)

Here is a list of hotels and bed and breakfasts for anyone who is able to book an accommodation. Remember the travel time listed is distance to the hill.
