CMQ News and UpdatesNews, information and notices concerning Canadian Midwest Quizzing.Sunday, April 25, 2004
The "Great Western Canadian Invitational Quizzing Tournament" was held at Harvest Hills Alliance Church in Calgary, Alberta from Thursday April 16th to Sunday April 18th, 2004. The Canadian Midwest District was represented very well by 20 of our top quizzers as determined by our first two CMQ meets held earlier this year. Prayerfully, the 5 coaches & Debbie Block formed 5 very balanced teams as was evidenced by the fact that they all remained in the "A" side of the competition.
Three of our teams finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (an "all Canadian Midwest" final!). Five of our quizzers were represented in the "top 10" quizzers for personal stats. They also recognized "rookies" as quizzers who had not previously taken part in a GWCI Quizzing Tournament. Once again, 5 of our "rookies" were recognized in the "top 8" with one of our quizzers, Michael Ulrickson, being named the "top rookie" for the tournament. Great West Quiz Meet pictures. Please pray for us
A team of 13 people -- Tom & Judy Vincent, Mike & Renee Comtois, Lisa Vincent, Tanya Penner, Kendra Harder, Hannah Swystun, Dylan and Dave Gruchy, Steven Petkau, Rebecca Barnard and Kallie Josephson will be leaving tomorrow morning for quizzing demonstrations in Quebec. We will be going to Gatineau, Quebec City and Montreal. These quizzers have been busy writing testimonies, memorizing verses from Matthew and preparing to talk about the various aspects of quizzing -- ALL IN FRENCH of course.
Please pray that we will be effictive in communicating God's Word en francais and getting youth excited about the prospect of quizzing. Pray that God would prepare the hearts of the youth and their families to be open to this program and that growth would follow. Unity not only for our team but for the leaders in Quebec organizing quizzing especially Vaughan, Troy and Cory. Safety to and fro, high and low. Pray also that our hearts would be prepared and be used by God in our areas of strengths and weaknesses. That we would be an effective team and bring glory to God. Thursday, April 01, 2004
